  1. Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat; sauté onion until soft, add garlic and cumin, sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  2. Combine sautéed ingredients with black beans, lime juice, salt, pepper (to taste), and cilantro, and the optional nutritional yeast in a blender or food processor; blend until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  3. Serve immediately, or refrigerate up to 3 days.

Plating & Garnishing

  • Serving: Transfer to a shallow bowl and smooth the top with the back of a spoon.
  • Finish: A drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of smoked paprika, and a few cilantro leaves.

Safety & Quality: Cool and refrigerate the spread within 2 hours. Black beans are protein-rich and should be kept below 40°F (4°C) to prevent spoilage.
